CALL FOR SHORT PAPERS: Workshop on Quantum Systems and Computation

Held in conjunction with ACM Sigmetrics 2023 (part of ACM FCRC)
June 19, 2023 -- Orlando, Florida, USA

We solicit papers on the recent advances on quantum computing, algorithms, networks and applications. The workshop aims to provide a high-quality forum for presenting results and discussing ideas that further our knowledge and understanding on quantum computing and algorithms. Of particular interest is work that presents new methods, or that creatively applies advanced methods to realize the promise of quantum computing and communication.

The intention of this workshop is to provide a forum for early research in quantum computing, algorithms and communication networks. The talks tend to be based on very recent research results as well as work in progress that will be otherwise submitted only to a journal or recently have been submitted to a journal.

This year's workshop will be held on June 19, 2023. In addition to the presentation of short papers, the workshop will include time for informal technical discussions among the speakers and attendees.

The accepted workshop papers will appear in the ACM PER (https://www.sigmetrics.org/per.shtml).

The following are the topics of interest:

Quantum Computing: quantum programming, quantum development kits (QDKs), quantum languages and circuits, compilers, software stack, libraries and infrastructure; hybrid quantum-classical architectures and computing, quantum simulators, quantum fault-tolerant computing and error correction.
Quantum Algorithms: Quantum information science, NISQ algorithms, algorithms and complexity, theoretical and empirical algorithm analysis, variational techniques, optimization techniques, quantum search.
Quantum Communications and Cryptography: Communications theory, quantum networks, quantum internet, quantum communications technologies, quantum cryptography, quantum key distribution (QKD), quantum security and privacy.
Quantum Sensing and Metrology: Quantum measures and benchmarks, quantum entanglement and squeezing, gate and measurement errors, connectivity and topology, entanglement-based remote sensing.
Quantum Hardware Engineering: Quantum computers, qubit design and control, NISQ hardware, superconducting, diamond defect-center, trapped-ion, silicon qubits and technologies, quantum dots.
Quantum Applications: Application tools, simulations of chemical, biological and physical systems, quantum machine learning, quantum chemistry, materials, quantum AI and decision making, quantum medicine and genomics, quantum finance Quantum Education and Training.

Submission Instruction

The forum encourages the submission of short papers describing early research on quantum computing. Authors are asked to submit 3-page papers, using the standard PER format (http://www.sigmetrics.org/sig-alternate-per.cls). Papers should be submitted electronically, as an e-mail attachment, to [email protected], with the email subject being : "Submission to Workshop on Quantum at Sigmetrics". Accepted papers will be part of the workshop program. A version of the accepted papers will be available at the workshop. Revised versions of these papers will be published in a special issue of Performance Evaluation Review (PER), or refer to https://dl.acm.org/newsletter/sigmetrics , with a due date after the workshop making it possible for authors to incorporate the results of, or simply mention, any relevant discussions at the workshop. Authors of accepted papers grant ACM permission to publish them in print and digital formats. Note that there are NO COPYRIGHT issues with PER, and thus authors retain the copyright of their work with complete freedom to submit their work elsewhere.
