Fellowship

ICFO - The Institute of Photonic Sciences, Castelldefels (Barcelona, Spain), is offering a predoctoral fellowship to a well-qualified, highly motivated and dynamic graduate student who wishes to enhance his/her scientific career in a friendly and stimulating environment, as well as to obtain a doctoral degree in Photonics. The students at ICFO benefit from the extensive course offerings of local universities and focused instruction by ICFO professors while carrying out research activities at ICFO groups with local and international collaborators.

Cooperative Behaviour at the Quantum Light-Matter Interface

We are seeking a Post-Doctoral researcher to work at the interface of cold atoms and quantum optics. This is a prestigious two-year fellowship to study collective strong coupling of light and matter in an optical ring resonator.

The experiment aims to:
• Demonstrate collective strong coupling of potassium atoms in a high-finesse cavity
• Examine the cooperative mechanics of cold atoms in dynamical optical lattices

This Fellowship aims at young talents (preferably Brazilians, though not mandatory) with a highly distinguishable CV. Candidates must be working outside of Brazil and must be younger than 40.
Fellowship worth R$7.000,00 per month (plus research grant of R$20.000,00 per year) with contracts up to three years long.
Three applications deadline for 2012: 15/02 to begin in April - July, 04/06 to begin in August - November and 01/10 to begin in December - March/2013.
Projects to be analyzed and judged by the Financing Agencies CNPq and CAPES.

The Vienna Center for Quantum Science and Technology (VCQ) invites applications for the

Vienna Quantum Fellowships

These newly established Fellowships in Experimental or Theoretical Quantum Science will be awarded both on the PhD- and the postdoc-level on the basis of an international competition. The appointments are for a three-year duration. Postdoctoral Fellowships carry a competitive annual salary, and offer an annual research expense fund. PhD Fellowships will participate in the Vienna graduate program CoQuS.

The University of Nottingam is pleased to announce 10 Visiting Fellowships for early career university lecturers and post-doctoral researchers currently working at recognised universities in Brazil.

A web site with all of the potential research projects is now up and running at
http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/internationaloffice/brazil
Specifically, a call for up to two fellows in Quantum Information Theory is available under "Mathematical Sciences".
