The Group of Applied Physics at the University of Geneva in Switzerland is one of the premier research institutions in the field of Quantum Information Science and
Technology, an exciting and vibrant research topic that attracts many of the best researchers and institutions across the globe. The Group of Applied Physics has

PhD research studentships in theoretical and computational physics
Advanced Technology Institute, Theory and Computation (TAC) and Photonics Groups

With the new project "Robust Quantum Information and Metrology" at Macquarie University we have two PhD scholarships to fill. In Australia a PhD is normally 3-4 years in duration and there is no coursework. The scholarships cover the university fees, and provide an annual stipend of about $23,000, with some support for relocation. <!--break--> We have just purchased a new TESLA Personal Supercomputer, with more computing power than the world's most powerful computer in 2000.

A new PhD position in Theoretical Quantum Optics of Ultracold Quantum Gases and Nanostructures is available at the University of Oxford, Department of Physics.

In our group at the University of Siegen (Germany) we are looking for a motivated PhD student in the field of quantum information theory. The research topics include

* theory of multiparticle entanglement
* statistical aspects of data analysis in quantum experiments
* foundations of quantum mechanics, e.g. the Kochen-Specker theorem

Applicants are expected to have a master / diploma in physics, experience in theoretical physics and interest in foundational questions of quantum mechanics.
