Postdoctoral and PhD positions on solid-state quantum photonics

We are seeking highly motivated postdoctoral fellows and PhDs for theoretical and experimental work on solid state quantum photonics, nanophotonics, nanofabrication, optomechanics, optical quantum computation algorithms and related fields.

Our primarily research interest includes development of solid-state efficient and highly pure single-photon sources, investigations of novel quantum materials (e.g. graphene-like two-dimensional atomic monolayers), light-matter interaction in micro- and nano-cavities, quantum enhanced precise measurement, and scalable linear optical quantum computing with multi-photon entanglement.

The group (http://staff.ustc.edu.cn/~cylu) is directly supervised by Professor Chao-Yang Lu, within the CAS Center for Excellence and Synergetic Innovation Center in Quantum Information and Quantum Physics (http://quantum.ustc.edu.cn), University of Science and Technology of China, directed by Professor Jian-Wei Pan. The principle investigator Professor Lu obtained his PhD from Cambridge and was a Fellow of Churchill College. He was award the Youth Qianren Program by the Chinese government and has been a full professor of physics at the University of Science and Technology of China since 2011. He so far published 30 articles in international journals, including 1 in Reviews of Modern Physics, 2 in Nature, 8 in Nature research journals, 3 in PNAS, and 9 in PRL, which have attracted over 1800 citations and popular media coverages from BBC, Nature, IOP, APS, New Scientist, Scientific American.

There are a number of open positions (such as President’s International Fellowship) in the recently initiated prestigious talent scheme of Chinese Academy of Sciences. Salary is internationally competitive, and is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Candidates should have a strong background in quantum physics, quantum optics, good experimental skills, a strong academic record, commitment, and a motivation to work hard. Research background in cold atoms, nanophotonics, and clean room fabrication are also desirable. There is no deadline—We always welcome truly outstanding applicants.
