Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Quantum Cryptography at Tainan, Taiwan

The newly-funded Center for Quantum Technology of Hsinchu, Taiwan is hiring a postdoctoral researcher working in the area of quantum cryptography. The hired candidate will be based in the National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) at Tainan, Taiwan and will be working closely with Yeong-Cherng Liang from NCKU, Kai-Min Chung from the Academia Sinica of Taiwan, and the experimental quantum optics team led by Chih-Sung Chuu from the National Tsinghua University of Taiwan.

The primary task of the candidate is to perform research related to quantum cryptography, including the establishment of a security proof of quantum cryptographic protocol(s) for experimentally realizable systems, taking into account finite statistical effects. As such, the hired candidate is expected to have:
- Some familiarity with quantum cryptography (such as the DPS protocols, or some device-independent QKD protocols)
- The willingness to pick up new knowledge in this field
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English
- The willingness to travel between Tainan, Taipei, and Hsinchu every now and then
- The willingness to guide and supervise graduate students
- Some prior experience publishing research results in this field in some high-ranked journals or conference proceedings is especially welcome - Some familiarity with finite-data analysis will be a bonus
- Some familiarity with quantum-optical systems will be a big plus

The initial appointment will expire at the end of January 2019 but is renewable (subjected to a positive internal review) on a yearly basis until the end of December 2022. The starting gross salary for a fresh Ph.D. graduate is TWD58,350 per month (or TWD700,200 per year) with an increment of approximately TWD2,000 in monthly salary for every complete year of postdoctoral experience accrued after obtaining one's Ph.D. Other benefits of the appointment include (but not limited to) access to the National Health Insurance of Taiwan (for an appointment that lasts for 6 months or more), 1.5 month of year-end bonus (or prorated according to the duration of appointment), initial relocation expenses, contributions toward the retirement fund by the employer (which can withdrawn upon termination of the appointment).
