Applications are invited for one Postdoc position in Theoretical Physics in the field of Theoretical Quantum Optics and Ultrafast Photonics. The position is initially for 1 year but can be extended for up to 4 years, depending on satisfactory performance, determining the continuation of the funding.
The position will be available within the research group Theory of ultrafast quantum phenomena of Prof. Andrey Moskalenko at the Department of Physics of KAIST, the leading technical university in South Korea.
It will be funded by the NRF (National Research Foundation of Korea).
The postdoctoral researcher will work on the development of a systematic theoretical framework for the quantum-optical description of ultrabroadband quantum states of light, their detection with subcycle temporal resolution, description of the generation of various types of such states in nonlinear-optical setups and theoretical demonstration of applications for ultrafast quantum spectroscopy.
Eligibility criteria: The applicant should have a PhD degree in theoretical physics. Strong command of various methods in theoretical quantum physics, reflected also in a solid track of publications corresponding to the career stage, is prerequisite. Good knowledge of quantum optics, quantum electrodynamics and nonlinear optics as well as a wish to get more insight into these subjects are strongly desirable. Knowledge in quantum information theory and numerical simulation skills with FORTRAN, C++, Maple, Mathematica etc. would be helpful.
Informal inquiries about the position should be addressed to Prof. Andrey Moskalenko ([email protected]). Inquiries about the official position announcement and formal application process should be addressed to Ms. Jeeae Shon ([email protected]), see the provided URL.
The application deadline is 18:00 (Korean time), May 31, 2020.
