We are seeking a suitably qualified postdoctoral fellow to be part of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Engineered Quantum Systems (EQuS) project team within the School of Mathematics and Physical Sciences at Macquarie University.
The successful candidate will conduct independent research and work with the group of Professor Gavin Brennen on the topic of Quantum Error Correction for Trapped Atoms. This theory project will investigate efficient ways to perform quantum error correction in trapped atom architectures including Rydberg arrays. Topics to be covered include: strategies for implementing non-local gates for error correction codes that require them such as LDPC codes, measurement free/autonomous quantum error correction, and cavity mode assisted geometric control of atomic qubits. This postdoc will work within the 1K qubit flagship program of EQuS with the goal to develop the theoretical foundations for a useful fault tolerant quantum processor using a few thousand physical qubits.
About Us
The newly merged School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences represents a continuation of the traditions of the disciplines of Applied Mathematics, Astronomy, Physics, Pure Mathematics and Statistics at Macquarie University.
Macquarie is a university engaged with the real and often complex problems and opportunities that define our lives. Since our foundation 56 years ago, we have aspired to be a different type of university. Over the years, we’ve grown to become the centre of a vibrant local and global community. Connect with us today.
Macquarie University hosts a node of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Engineered Quantum Systems (EQuS). EQuS has a vision "to conduct world-leading research to exploit the potential of quantum science and develop a range of transformational technologies that will benefit society".
