Are you looking for an opportunity to shape the future of quantum computing? With superconducting quantum computers on the verge, we want strengthen our research at the Walther-Meißner-Institute (WMI – wmi.badw.de) of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities and the Technical University of Munich (http://www.tum.de) and offer a position as fabrication expert within the Munich Quantum Valley (http://www.munich-quantum-valley.de) and the German quantum computing project MUNIQC-SC (t1p.de/8c6h).
How you will support us:
- You will take on responsibilities in the fabrication of high-coherence superconducting quantum circuits and the investigation of novel materials.
- Depending on prior experience, you will lead the fabrication efforts at the WMI.
- You will develop new fabrication processes and surface treatments.
- You will be in charge of optical and electron-beam lithography processes.
- You will manage the clean room facilities at the WMI.
- You will work in a growing international team focusing on quantum technology and computing with superconducting qubits.
- You will supervise early career researchers and guide them in their experimental investigations.
- You will work at the intersection of basic science and technology development and closely interact with project partners at universities, research organizations, and companies.
- You will actively participate in outreach events and present your results at conferences, workshops and in research publications.
Your profile:
- You have excellent expertise in micro- and nano-fabrication of quantum devices and like to push technology to its limit to realize highest quality scalable quantum systems with up to 100 qubits.
- You hold a degree in physics, engineering or material science ideally at the PhD level.
- Ideally, you have experience with superconducting quantum circuits
- Ideally, you have experience in cryogenics and the operation of dilution refrigerators.
- You are an independent worker and bring in creative ideas into a larger team.
- You like to work in an academic setting with a technology-oriented innovative mindset.
- You have strong communication and writing skills.
