The Institute for Theoretical Physics invites applications for

PhD Candidates
(Salary Group 13 TV-L, 75%)

to be filled on 1 August 2016 or on a later date for a duration of three years.

Job description

The openings are within the research group of Dr. Hendrik Weimer and are funded by the DFG within the scope of SFB 1227 and SPP 1929. The successful candidates are expected to work on projects focused on quantum many-body physics, dissipative quantum systems, quantum information, quantum optics, Rydberg atoms, and ultracold polar molecules. The projects include possibilities for collaboration with leading experimental groups.

Requirements

Applicants must hold a Master degree or equivalent or must obtain the degree prior to beginning of employment. Previous experience in one or more of the above research areas is desired, preferentially combined with strong numerical skills.
