PhD Positions in Quantum Information Science and Technology (University of Geneva)

The Group of Applied Physics at the University of Geneva in Switzerland is one of the premier research institutions in the field of Quantum Information Science and
Technology, an exciting and vibrant research topic that attracts many of the best researchers and institutions across the globe. The Group of Applied Physics has
established itself as one of the world-leading laboratories in Quantum Communication by realizing several ground-breaking experiments. These include: the first experiments in quantum key distribution (QKD) and teleportation using real-world telecommunication networks; the longest QKD experiments (>250km); as well as seminal experiments towards quantum repeaters, in particular entanglement storage in solid-state quantum memories. The current research topics that we investigate cover a wide spectrum, ranging from applied to fundamental research. These include the development of state-of-the-art quantum cryptography prototypes in collaboration with the world-leading QKD system manufacturer IDQ, the investigation of the classical/quantum boundary using photonic systems, the development of solid-state quantum memories for photons based on basic light-matter interactions, and the theoretical study of quantum non-locality.

The Group of Applied Physics offers well-remunerated 3-4 year PhD positions in all experimental and theoretical subjects studied within the laboratory. Research students
will have access to state-of-the-art facilities and may participate in multi-national, largescale collaborative projects. We are seeking bright and motivated international graduate students in physics. The students should hold the equivalence of a European Masters diploma.
