The Department of Physics is seeking a scientist with an international reputation in theoretical Quantum Information Technology (QIT) to advance the University’s ground-breaking work within the field.
The Role
The successful candidate will engage with both theorists and experimentalists to complement related research within the Condensed Matter Physics Group. The candidate is also expected to interact with the wider QIT community within the University, which is spread over various Departments. He/She will help advance the University of York’s reputation as a centre of excellence in Quantum Information Technology.
The Candidate
• International leadership in a research area within Quantum Information Technology (QIT)
• Track record of leadership and managerial skills applied to large groups and/or scientific divisions.
• Proven ability to attract Research Council, EU, and/or industrial funding for research grants
• Recognised knowledge in some/all of the following subject matters: solid state quantum computation, quantum metrology, quantum communication and networking, quantum coherence and decoherence, quantum optics, spin dynamics and spin chains is highly desirable
• Strong commitment to the promotion of teaching and learning
Quantum Information Technologies at York
Quantum Information Technologies is an expanding area of strategic importance at the University. Recent support to this area has seen the appointment of two additional lecturers in QIT, in the Departments of Computer Science and Mathematics respectively.

Salary will be commensurate with experience on the professorial scale, current minimum £54,826 per annum.
