Opportunity for a motivated graduate student to assist with empirical studies of quantum annealing, using a 512-qubit D-Wave Two machine. Come spend an exciting summer in Arlington, Virginia, USA next to Washington, D.C., working for the University of Southern California Information Sciences Institute (USC ISI, http://www.isi.edu). ISI is a unit of USC’s Top 10 ranked Viterbi School of Engineering, and has an office in Virginia. The opening is in ISI's Reconfigurable Computing Group.
You will get a chance to write quantum annealing programs in MATLAB, investigate non-traditional computer architecture and optimization, map algorithms related to subgraph isomorphism, and collect data from a quantum annealing machine. Prior experience in any of these areas is a plus.
Dates of employment are approximately May to August, 2014. The office is accessible by public transportation. Each year, the Reconfigurable Computing Group hires several interns from universities all around the USA. Internships have no citizenship restrictions.
Interested graduate students should send a resume and a short cover letter explaining specific interests and qualifications to the group ([email protected]), with subject line “Internship: [your name]”. The deadline is March 26, 2014.
