The research group (http://iqoqi.at/en/group-page-romero-isart) led by Oriol Romero-Isart at the Institute of Quantum Optics and Quantum Information (Innsbruck, Austria) announces the opening of a PhD and a PostDoc position. PhD appointments are for up to 4 years, while PostDoc appointments are for 1+1 years.
We are seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic students/researchers with an excellent academic/scientific record. Women are particularly encouraged to apply.
The main focus of the research will be on proposing experiments and developing the underlying theory in quantum optomechanics and quantum near-field electrodynamics. This will be done in close collaboration with experimental groups, in particular with those working on cavity quantum optomechanics with optically levitated dielectric nanospheres, e.g. the group of Prof. Markus Aspelmeyer at the University of Vienna (http://aspelmeyer.quantum.at).
The group is part of an exciting research environment with the presence of world-leading theoretical and experimental groups in quantum optics, ultracold gases, and quantum information. The group also has a strong collaboration with experimental and theoretical groups outside Innsbruck, in particular with the group of Prof. J. Ignacio Cirac at the Max-Planck Institute of Quantum Optics (http://www.mpq.mpg.de/Theorygroup/CIRAC/wiki/index.php/Theory_Division.html).
PhD applications - containing CV, publications (if available), motivation letter, and recommendation letters - should be submitted electronically using the subject line “PhD2014” to [email protected] by June 1st 2014.
PostDoc applications - containing CV, publication list, past research achievements, motivation letter including future research plans, and recommendation letters - should be submitted electronically using the subject line “PostDoc2014” to [email protected] by June 1st 2014.
Post-deadline applications will be considered until the positions are filled.
This announcement is for information purposes only. The formal appointment will be made through the Institute and University HR department at a later stage.
