A PostDoc position fully funded by the South African Research Chair in Quantum Information Processing and Communications is available at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in Durban. The Centre for Quantum Technology has groups working on theoretical and experiment topics, that include
- Open quantum systems
- Dissipative quantum computing
- Quantum biology
- Quantum cryptography
- Quantum nanophotonics
- Cold atoms - BEC
The position is specifically intended to support the cold atoms Group, which is working on a number of topics including integration with nanophotonic waveguides and achieving the first BEC in South Africa. Ideally, the candidate should be familiar with laser system design and construction, data acquisition, electronics and vacuum technology. The candidate will work as a link between the Groups of Prof. Mark Tame and Prof Francesco Petruccione.
The position should be filled in June 2014 or as soon as possible thereafter.
