at the Department of Physics of the TU-Darmstadt in Germany. The position is available for the total duration of six years (fixed term, nontenured). You only qualify if you are maximally 4 years after graduation with PhD.

The successful candidate has a proven track record in theoretical quantum optics. More specifically, this could be contributions in one or several of the topics, like nonlinear quantum optics, semiconductor optics, precision spectroscopy, quantum optomechanics, quantum information, quantum communication, quantum simulation, quantum metrology and quantum dynamics of atomic or molecular gases.

We expect the future holder of the position to support and extend the research activities at the Technische Universität Darmstadt in the fields of quantum optics. Besides excellent research activities, the position holder has to be capable and ready to teach courses of the core curriculum in theoretical physics at the bachelor and master level.

Regulations on the maximum period of scientific activities after the acquisition of the doctoral degree as well as all additional requirements for employment are subject to § 64 HHG in the respective current version.

The assistant professorship is designed as qualification professorship as per § 64 HHG. An option for tenure-track is not given. The position is initially limited to six years. Remuneration follows the German W-Besoldung at level W1 Hessisches Besoldungsgesetz.
