Towards deterministic creation of quantum emitters in 2D materials for optical quantum technologies
We propose a PhD position with a possibility of doing a Master thesis of 4 to 6 months beforehand. The position leads to a doctoral degree of University Paris-Saclay (which is ranked world number 15 in Shanghai ranking).
Job description:
- Fundamental investigation of quantum properties of new colour centres (artificial atoms) in 2D materials using experimental quantum optics techniques
- Building a new setup for in-situ monitoring of controlled creation of the quantum emitters (based on cathodoluminescence)
- Design (using simulation tools) and realisation of integrated quantum devices combining quantum emitters and photonic nanostructures.
The long-term goal is to build a fully integrated quantum photonics chip based on position-controlled identical single photon emitters.
The complete job description can be found here.
The project will take place in Paris region, in France. The GEMaC laboratory is a part of University of Versailles / University Paris-Saclay, which is ranked world number 15 in Shanghai ranking. The Quantum Nanophotonics team has been hosting a new activity focusing on colour centres in wide gap materials for quantum information science, which has already produced some prolific and exciting results. The laboratory is fully equipped for the project. The group is part of a wide and lively environment for quantum science in Paris-Saclay and Paris region. The project also involves partners in other renowned labs. More details about our research activities on gemac.uvsq.fr
