PhD position @ MPI-PKS (Dresden): out-of-equilibrium dynamics at the interface between the fields of active matter and quantum physics

The Max Planck Institute for the Physics of Complex Systems (MPI-PKS) offers a PhD position in out-of-equilibrium dynamics at the interface between the fields of active matter and quantum physics.

The thesis topic will be at the intersection of active matter with non-reciprocal interactions and non-Hermitian many-body dynamics, and can be adjusted based on the profile and interests of the successful applicant. We are looking for exceptionally talented and motivated candidates with solid background knowledge in statistical mechanics, critical phenomena and/or quantum mechanics, who show potential to develop creative and critical thinking, and who are motivated to combine the worlds of soft and hard condensed matter. The successful applicant will be jointly supervised by Ricard Alert and Marin Bukov, and will become part of both the Physics of Living Matter and the Nonequilibrium Quantum Dynamics groups at MPI-PKS:
