Postdoc positions in the Quantum Networks team at Laboratoire Kastler Brossel (Paris France)

Job type:

Application deadline:

Research group:

Applications are invited for postdoctoral positions in experimental quantum optics and quantum information at Laboratoire Kastler Brossel (LKB) in Paris, France, in the Quantum Networks team led by Julien Laurat and Alban Urvoy. LKB is jointly run by Sorbonne Université, École Normale Supérieure, Collège de France and CNRS.
The team works on 3 projects towards the realization of future networks where quantum information will be distributed and processed. We currently have open postdoctoral positions on all 3 of our research directions:

Waveguide-QED: One position will focus on the development of novel waveguide-QED systems based on cold atoms coupled to nanophotonic structures, including nanofiber and slow-mode photonic crystal waveguides, towards quantum non-linear optics protocols in this emerging setting. The proposed research is included in a national ANR program “1DArray” and the European DAALI project.

Quantum repeaters: One position will be dedicated to the development of high performance cold-atom based quantum memories and the deployment of a quantum repeater segment. This effort is part of the European Flagship project “Quantum Internet Alliance” and the French national initiative on Quantum testbeds.

Heterogeneous Quantum networks: One position will focus on the generation, characterization and processing of complex non-Gaussian states of light, including hybrid qubit-qumode entanglement, and its applications to quantum networking. Fundamental questions related to error correction will also be tackled. The research takes place in the context of the European project “ShoQC” about quantum LANs, and the French national initiative.

Eligibility and conditions: Candidates must hold an internationally recognized PhD degree or equivalent in a field related to experimental quantum physics. The dynamic and highly-motivated candidate should have a track record of experimental research in either quantum optics, quantum information or atomic physics. The positions are open as soon as possible, and will remain open until filled.

Application procedure: Inquiries and applications should be sent by email to Julien Laurat ([email protected]) and Alban Urvoy ([email protected]), with a CV and a list of 2-3 references.
