Salary: £24370 to £32751 per annum, depending on skills and experience (£27,428 per annum minimum with relevant PhD).
Applications are invited for the above post based in the School of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Nottingham.
The successful candidate will work with Dr Gerardo Adesso on the project "Interplay between noise and quantum transport" funded by a Nottingham Early Career Research and Knowledge Transfer Award. The research is aiming to explore the role of noise as enhancer of quantum effects in dynamical contexts, and the application of nonclassical correlations as resources for noisy quantum technology protocols. Candidates must be confident, organised, have good communication skills and enjoy working with a variety of different people.
The person appointed will be expected to contribute to the publication of scientific papers, and to their dissemination at relevant workshops and conferences. In addition, they will have the opportunity to integrate into the young and vibrant Quantum Information group at Nottingham.
Candidates should have a PhD, or equivalent (or be near completion), in mathematics or physics and experience with quantum theory. Knowledge of quantum information theory, quantum optics and/or open systems evolution is also desirable. This full-time post is available from 1 February 2012 or as soon as possible thereafter and will be offered on a fixed-term contract for a period of 6 months.
