Postdoctoral position in quantum verification

Job type:

Application deadline:

Wednesday, November 11, 2015

Research group:

Applications are invited for a Research Fellow in verification of quantum computations and simulations in the quantum information science group of Dr. Animesh Datta.

The post is available initially for fixed-term duration of 2 years. The starting date is expected to be early in 2016.

The post will involve designing formal theoretical techniques for verification of the output of quantum computers and simulators. Particular emphasis is to be placed on models of quantum computation that are not necessarily universal. It will also involve the streamlining of the theoretical methods in specific physical implementations such as trapped ion, photonic, and solid-state systems, possibly in collaboration with experimental physicists in other groups and institutions in the UK or elsewhere.

You will work with graduate students and other researchers in the quantum information science group of Dr. Animesh Datta. The group is part of the UK Quantum Technologies Programme.

You should possess, or be very close to obtaining a doctorate in physics, computer science, or mathematics and have a strong background in quantum information theory, ideally quantum verification methods. You are expected to demonstrate knowledge of the theory of quantum computation and the mathematical techniques of classical and quantum computer science.

You must be capable of working within a broader research team, demonstrating excellent written and verbal communication skills, and maintaining a current knowledge of the quantum computation literature.

You should include a CV, list of publications, a brief statement of research interests, and the contact information of three referees. You will be expected to arrange for these three referees to send letters of recommendation before the interview date if shortlisted. Please note that it is your responsibility to ensure that the reference letters are received by that date. The post reference number should be quoted in all correspondence.

Informal inquiries can be made to Dr. Animesh Datta ([email protected]). Further details can also be obtained at www.warwick.ac.uk/qinfo and applications can be made via http://www.jobs.ac.uk/job/ATZ531/research-fellow-76856-105/
