Postdoctoral position in theoretical quantum information science

Job type:

Application deadline:

Monday, November 11, 2019

We invite applications for research associate or postdoctoral associate positions in theoretical Quantum Information Science in the Physics Department of Virginia Tech. The focus of these positions will be on quantum simulation of quantum chemistry and other quantum algorithms and on quantum control, with an emphasis on near-term superconducting qubit devices. There will also be an opportunity to test these theoretical results on cloud quantum processors (Virginia Tech is in IBM’s Q Hub, which provides access to 20+ qubit devices). The Postdoctoral and Research Associate positions include opportunities for travel both to present in conferences and to collaborate with other groups. Postdoctoral and Research Associates will conduct research in the above areas and disseminate results in journal publications and conference presentations. Postdoctoral and Research Associates will be expected to collaborate with other members of the group. Research Associates will also be expected to assist with the supervision of graduate students and Postdoctoral Associates.
