Postdoctoral research fellow | Thermally-Induced Phenomena in Strongly Coupled Quantum Systems

Job type:

Application deadline:

Thursday, May 30, 2019

Place of work: Department of Optics, Palacky University, Olomouc, Czech Republic
Work load: 1,0 (full-time, 40 h per week)
Start of job: July 1 - September 1, 2019
Duration of the contract: 24 months

Description:

We are opening a 2Y Postdoc position in investigation of strong coupling quantum regime in atomic and solid-state systems and its statistical and thermodynamical consequences.
The theoretical work of Postdoc can be focused on (i) modelling strong quantum regime with both discrete and continuous variable quantum systems, (ii) investigation of thermally-induced autonomous quantum phenomena and their thermodynamical consequences and (iii) experimental proposals to simulate or discover such phenomena with trapped ions, superconducting circuits, quantum optomechanics and solid-state systems. Theoretical proposals will be developed inside our quantum team (see http://muj.optol.cz/filip/) and towards possible experimental tests in collaboration with partner labs. Our research runs in a friendly, collaborative and very international academic environment, including theoretical and experimental physicists in quantum optics, quantum communication, quantum optomechanics, quantum thermodynamics, physics of trapped ions and particles, theoretical and experimental quantum information and classical optics. Postdoc work will be in collaboration with a Postdoc inside the team.

Position summary: Full-time temporary employment. The position is limited to a maximum of two and a half years. An extension is conditionally possible. Salary is monthly 40.000-50.000 CZK (up to 2000 EURs) before tax and social/health insurance, depending on Postdocs experience. The position can start at any time from July 1, 2019.
The application deadline is May 31, 2019. Apply immediately!
