The Light-Matter Interactions Unit (https://groups.oist.jp/light) in OIST, headed by Prof Síle Nic Chormaic, invites applications for a postdoctoral scholar or staff scientist position in the unit. The focus will be on one of the experimental areas within the group such as (i) WGM resonators for nonlinear optics or optomechanics, (ii) complex beam profiles, optical trapping, and fibre-based imaging, or (iii) cold atoms and nanofibres for quantum networks. Only candidates with extensive experience in these areas should apply, as proven by a solid publication record. The successful candidate must hold a PhD in an experimentally related area and ideally have a couple of years of postdoctoral experience. Applicants for staff scientist post should have several years of experience post PhD award. Strong analytical skills and programming skills (LabVIEW, SLM programming, fast data acquisition, GPU-accelerated computing) are also desired. Peer-reviewed publications in a related field are essential. Ability to work as a team member, while assuming day-to-day responsibilities in the laboratory including assisting with student supervision, is also required.
