Summary of Position and Responsibilities
Xanadu, a well-funded quantum computing startup located in downtown Toronto, is looking for experts in quantum error correction and fault tolerance. As part of the Xanadu Architecture Team, the main responsibility of the candidate will be to develop and extend fault-tolerant error-correcting codes for Xanadu’s quantum photonic computational platform.
The selected candidate must possess the ability to learn advanced scientific and technical concepts quickly and with minimal direction. Familiarity with quantum computing is required and with quantum optics desirable, but not essential if the candidate has strong technical skills and a demonstrated ability to learn new concepts.
Qualification and Experience
PhD in Physics, Mathematics or Computer Science
Demonstrated track-record of excellence in research
Required Knowledge and Experience
Deep knowledge of quantum error correction and fault tolerance
Experience with a design of quantum error-correcting codes
Strong mathematical skills
Self-motivated with a willingness to learn
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
High level of professionalism
Additional Skills Considered to be Assets
Knowledge of classical error correction codes
Familiarity with quantum optics
Familiarity with bosonic codes
Programming skills (Sage, Mathematica, Python and similar)
Knowledge of classical or quantum complexity theory
