The Advanced Technology Institute (ATI) at the University of Surrey is looking to employ a full time Post Doctoral Researcher for a fixed term position of two years to participate in the major EPSRC ADDRFSS programme (Atomically Deterministic Doping and Readout For Semiconductor Solotronics) with a potential for extension (project ending is 31 January 2020). The vision of ADDRFSS is to explore the quantum physics of the artificial devices and devise quantum state control schemes, from the level of the single impurity to the level of a lattice with electrical and optical probes as well as produce proof of principle atomistic devices. This post will focus on one or more theoretical aspects of this system such as collective excitations, quantum optics, topological states and control of the quantum states of impurity atoms implanted deterministically in Silicon.
The post holder will conduct theoretical and computational research in the area of condensed matter and/or quantum optics and will be expected to collaborate closely with the experimental partners and take part of the programme activities.
The post holder will be required to work closely with Surrey and UCL investigators to achieve the aims of the funded project and interact with other programme partners.
The successful candidate should hold a PhD in a related field and have a strong research track record, including academic publications. You must hold good mathematical and computational skills and have the ability to analyse and solve complex problems as they arise.
